Writing the second act.

I have been writing the second act and it feels like this article at times. In another book, Screenwriting Tricks for Authors by Alexandra Sokoloff, he states sometimes having to fight through the second act is a right of passage.
"It's that third quarter where things get murky. You feel like your not getting anywhere. In fact you have no freaking clue where you are, or why the hell you're wherever the hell you are to begin with, and you just want to give up and sleep for a week, etc.
... but structurally, this is exactly the point in your story that your hero is in. They are feeling the same way... it's as if we authors have to work ourselves through the same hopelessness.
